Use Community workflow triggers
Use Community workflow triggers to start JourneyCARE workflows when a group join request is rejected, a top-level post or comment is created, or a member registers for a group event.
Find Community workflow triggers
Community triggers are available in the Workflow Builder under the Communities category.
Trigger | Starts when | Supported filters |
|---|---|---|
Group Joining Request Rejected | A join request for a Community group is rejected. | Group |
Requested to Join Group | A member submits a request to join a Community group. | Group, Membership Question Responses |
Group Post Created | A new top-level post is created in a Community group. | Group, Channel, Post Title, Post Content |
Group Comment Created | A new comment is added to an existing group post. | Group, Channel, Post Title, Post Content, Comment Content |
Member Registered for Group Event | A member registers for an event attached to a Community group. | Group, Event Title |
Select at least one Community group in the Group filter for each of these triggers. Add the other filters shown in the table when the workflow should respond only to matching channels, titles, content, comments, or events.
Match posts and comments
Use the post and comment triggers to narrow automation to the Community activity that matters to your organization.
Channel limits the trigger to a specific channel.
Post Title matches the title of a post.
Post Content matches the body content of a post.
Comment Content matches the text of a comment.
Group Post Created applies to top-level posts rather than comments. Group Comment Created applies to comments on existing posts and can use the original post’s title and content as filters.
Match rejected join requests
Use Group Joining Request Rejected when a workflow should start after a member’s request to join a selected Community group is rejected.
Set the required Group filter for the Community group whose rejected join requests should start the workflow.
Match join requests
Use Requested to Join Group when a workflow should start after a member submits a request to join a selected Community group. This trigger applies to join requests, not direct joins, so the group must use request-based access.
Set the required Group filter. After you select a group, its membership questions become available as Membership Question Responses filters; if the group has no membership questions, the filter does not appear. Responses are available throughout the workflow, not only in the trigger.
For the full setup and the actions you can run on a request, see Automate Community group join requests.
Match Community event registrations
Use Member Registered for Group Event when a workflow should start after a member registers for an event hosted by a selected Community group.
Group selects the group hosting the event.
Event Title targets an event by its title or a title pattern.
For details about creating and managing the events members register for, see Community Events.
Configure a trigger
Configure a Community trigger by selecting it in a workflow, choosing the required group, and adding any supported optional filters.
Open the Workflow Builder.
Add a new trigger and open the Communities category.
Select one of the five Community triggers listed above.
Set the required Group filter.
Add the optional filters supported by the selected trigger.
Select Save Trigger.
A workflow combines a trigger with actions that run afterward. For the general trigger-and-action model, see Workflows Overview.
