Community Events are event posts inside a community and client portal. Members can also discover new events from the Discussions tab.
Community Events
Use Community Events to publish free or paid event posts inside a community and client portal, control who can see them, and let members register, add them to a calendar, and receive reminders.
Create a community event
Create an event from a group’s Events tab when you want members to find the event and its details inside the community.
Open the group where you want to host the event and select the Events tab.
Select Create Event.
Enter the event title, date, time, location or link, and description.
Choose whether the event occurs once or recurs.
Choose whether the event is free or paid. For a paid event, assign the registration fee, currency, and whether the price applies to one event or a recurring series.
Set the event’s audience visibility. You can make it available to everyone or limit it to specific courses, groups, or private channels.
Create the event.
The event appears in the group’s Discussions tab so members can discover it there.
Share an event preview card in a post
Mention an event in a post to automatically generate an interactive event preview card. The card shows the event name, date, time, price, and status, and members can register or RSVP directly from it without opening the Events page.
Open the post editor in the community.
Mention the event in the post, for example by tagging it with #.
Publish the post. The event preview card appears automatically.
No additional setup is needed — the preview is generated when you mention the event. For how to tag an event in a post, see Tag channels and events in Community posts and comments.
Register and add an event to a calendar
Members can discover and register for a community event from the web or mobile experience, then select Add to Google or Add to iCal to place it on a personal calendar.
Open the community and find the event in the Events tab or the Discussions tab.
Review the event details and select the registration action.
Select Add to Google or Add to iCal when you want the event on your calendar.
Members receive in-app notifications and email reminders for upcoming events. Hosts are not notified when someone registers.
Find events on mobile
On mobile, members can discover and register for events, and the Events and profile areas are available under More.
Open the community in the mobile experience.
Open More and select the event area, or open the group’s Events tab when it is available there.
Open an event to review its details and register.
Customize event reminder emails
Customize the event reminder email when you want reminder messages to use your organization’s wording.
Open Sites → Client Portal → Memberships → Settings → Email Settings → Communities → Event Reminder Email.
Edit the Subject and Body.
Manage an attendee’s calendar view on mobile
There is no attendee cancel-registration button; on mobile, a member can remove an event from their personal calendar view without notifying the organizer.
Open the Events tab.
Select the hamburger menu, then open the event.
Select the three-dot menu and choose Delete.
