JourneyCARE supports real-time video through Interactive Video Rooms for multi-participant collaboration and a Live Streaming Engine for one-to-many broadcasts.

Choose between interactive rooms and live streams

Interactive Video Rooms fit collaborative sessions, while the Live Streaming Engine fits broadcasts with a host and an audience.

  • Interactive Video Rooms: Support multi-participant collaboration with preview, moderation, participation controls, recording, and replay links.

  • Live Streaming Engine: Supports one-to-many broadcasts with webcam or professional encoder input, host and attendee roles, live interaction, and recording.

Both experiences use the same media infrastructure that stores on-demand images and videos, so assets, calls, and streams can be managed through one platform without separate external licenses.

What Interactive Video Rooms provide

Interactive Video Rooms give hosts tools to manage a collaborative video session while participants communicate in real time.

  • Preview Mode: Participants can test their camera and microphone before joining.

  • Grid View and Speaker View: Switch between showing participants together and spotlighting the active speaker.

  • Host controls: Hosts can mute or unmute participants, grant or revoke microphone, video, and screen-sharing access, and remove attendees.

  • Participant limits: Configure the maximum number of participants for a session.

  • Raise Hand: Participants can request to speak without interrupting the current discussion.

  • Emoji reactions: Participants can respond with floating reactions.

  • Recording and replay: Record a call and share a replay link with people who could not attend live.

What the Live Streaming Engine provides

The Live Streaming Engine supports broadcasts that separate the broadcaster from the audience while keeping viewing and interaction in the same experience.

  • Stream Software Mode: Generate a stream key and URL using RTMP input from streaming software such as OBS, Zoom, or StreamYard.

  • WebCam Mode: Go live directly in a browser without external software.

  • Professional ingest: Bring a studio or encoder feed into JourneyCARE for a polished broadcast.

  • Host and Attendee roles: Separate broadcaster access from viewer access.

  • Live interaction: Viewers can watch, chat, and react in real time, while hosts can see the live participant count.

  • Recording: Capture a broadcast so it can be watched on demand after the live event.

Build a custom video experience with composable components

Composable video components let developers arrange the video interface around an organization’s brand and workflow instead of using one fixed layout.

  • Player: Provides the video playback component.

  • ControlBar: Provides the video controls component.

  • Chat: Provides the chat component.

Components can be styled and arranged for layouts ranging from minimalist video tiles to multi-column stages. The components handle connection logic, state management, and real-time events so the surrounding experience can focus on its layout and behavior.

Use analytics and resource protection to manage live video

Built-in analytics show how sessions are used, while connection-minute safeguards protect resources when usage exceeds a session threshold.

  • Connection minutes: Measure connection time.

  • Bandwidth usage: Track bandwidth consumed by sessions.

  • Participant counts: Monitor session capacity and attendance.

  • Join and leave timestamps: Track when participants enter and leave.

When a session exceeds its connection-minute threshold, it enters a grace period and then ends. These metrics can support participant-cap decisions, encoder-bitrate optimization, and replay scheduling.

Courses and Communities beta availability

Live video has been tested with select beta users in Courses and Communities.

Share and embed replays

Recorded live sessions can be shared through a watch link, embedded on a website or dashboard, or stored for later access.

  • Watch link: Share the automatically generated link to the replay watch page.

  • Website or dashboard embed: Use an iframe embed to place the replay on a website or dashboard.

  • Media Library: Recordings are stored with other videos in the Media Library.
