Use custom fields as metrics in dashboards and reports
Numeric and monetary custom fields on Contacts and Opportunities can be used as metrics in Dashboard widgets, Custom Reports, and the Custom Metric module. Select the field and choose an aggregation — Sum, Min, Max, or Average — and the widget or report shows the aggregated value live.
Which custom fields can be used as metrics
Only numeric and monetary custom fields on Contacts and Opportunities can be used as metrics. Newly created numeric or monetary custom fields appear in the metric picker automatically, so there is no separate setup step.
Add a custom field as a metric
Add the metric from a dashboard widget, a Custom Report, or the Custom Metric module.
Open a dashboard widget, Custom Report, or the Custom Metric module and add a metric.
In the Field dropdown, select a numeric or monetary custom field.
In the Aggregation dropdown, select Sum, Min, Max, or Average.
The widget or report reflects the custom field's aggregated value live.
Custom fields as columns vs. metrics
Selecting a custom field in a table widget's column selector displays each record's individual value, while using it as a metric calculates an aggregate. For the column workflow, see Add custom fields to dashboard table widgets.
For formula-based metrics you define and reuse, see Create and use custom metrics for dashboard reports, and for configuring a widget's data after adding the metric, see Customize a dashboard widget.
