Custom object widgets for dashboards

Custom object widgets visualize data from your organization's Custom Objects, and you can add them to dashboards and custom reports. Each widget calculates a Count, Sum, or Average of the object's records and renders the result in one of six chart types. For the full widget catalog, see Dashboard widgets overview.

Before you start

Create the Custom Object in Sub-Account Settings before you add a custom object widget. The widget has nothing to report until the object exists in the location.

Metrics and chart types

Custom object widgets calculate one of three metrics and display it as one of six chart types.

  • Metrics: Count, Sum, Average

  • Chart types: Numeric, Table, Bar, Horizontal Bar, Line, Donut

Dashboard permissions

Dashboard access uses four permission levels: VIEW, EDIT, FULL, and NO ACCESS.

Add a custom object widget to a dashboard

Add a custom object widget when you want to track records from a Custom Object on a dashboard.

  1. Open the dashboard you want to use. To build one from scratch, see Create a custom dashboard.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Select Add Widget.

  4. Choose a chart type and locate the Custom Objects category.

  5. Apply filters or theme/colors as needed. For the configuration options, see Customize a dashboard widget.

  6. Select Save, then select Save Changes to save the dashboard layout.

Add a custom object widget to a custom report

Add a custom object widget to a custom report when you want the same data alongside other report elements.

  1. Go to Reports > Custom Reports.

  2. Select Create Report.

  3. Select Add Widget/Element.

  4. Drag the custom object widget into the report.

  5. Configure the widget.

  6. Optionally select Send or Schedule to deliver the report.

Custom object limit

A location (sub-account) supports up to ten Custom Objects.

Why a widget shows no data

A custom object widget can show "No data" when any of these is true:

  • The Custom Object has no records.

  • The selected metric or field is ineligible for the widget.

  • The date range excludes the records.

  • Filters or Quick Filters exclude all records. See Use quick filters on dashboards.
