Create and use custom metrics for dashboard reports
Create a custom metric on plans $497 and above, then use it in Dashboards, Custom Reports, and Snapshots. A custom metric is a formula you define once and reuse across Dashboards, Custom Reports, and Snapshots.
Before you start
Custom metrics are available on plans $497 and above. You create them from a dashboard's edit mode, so open a dashboard first — see Create a custom dashboard if you need to set one up.
Create a custom metric
Create the metric from the Custom Metrics tab in the Add Widget panel.
Open Dashboard.
Enter Edit Dashboard mode.
Select Add Widget.
Open the Custom Metrics tab.
Select + Create Custom Metrics.
Choose Start from scratch to build a new formula, or Clone existing to copy a metric you have already set up.
Select Select.
Configure the metric
A metric has four fields: Metric Name, Data Type, Description, and Formula.
Metric Name — the name that identifies the metric.
Data Type — choose Integer, Float, Percentage, or Currency.
Description — optional notes about the metric.
Formula — the calculation that produces the value.
Select Create to save the metric.
Formula limits
A formula combines up to four metrics using mathematical operators such as +, -, x, and /. You can also add constants to the formula.
Choose a date property
In Advanced Settings, choose a date property for each metric in the formula. The available date properties change based on the metrics you selected.
Set the comparison value
In Comparison Value, choose Increase is positive when a higher value is the desired outcome, or Decrease is positive when a lower value is.
Where custom metrics can be used
Custom metrics can be used in Dashboards, Custom Reports, and Snapshots. For how widgets fit into a dashboard, see Dashboard widgets overview, and for configuring a widget's data, see Customize a dashboard widget. To filter custom metrics at the metric level, see Custom metrics: metric-level filters and data sources.
When a custom metric breaks
Two situations can break a custom metric after you create it:
A cloned metric can break if one of its underlying fields is removed, renamed, or changes data type.
Snapshot formulas remain intact only when the destination account has the same data sources and fields.
