Add and manage customer cards on file
Add, view, and delete a customer's cards on file from the contact record's Payments area. Card management lives under Contacts > contact details > the $ icon (denotes Payments) > Actions, and works in both live and test mode.
Where card management lives
Cards on file are managed per customer from the Payments area of their contact record.
Open Contacts and open the customer's contact details.
Click the $ icon (denotes Payments) in the contact record.
Under Actions, choose Add Card on File or Manage Cards.
Add a card on file
Add a customer's card when it isn't stored yet so it can be used for future charges. Cards can be added in both live and test mode.
Under Actions, click Add Card on File.
Enter the card number, expiration date, CVV, and country.
Verify the information and click Add Card.
View cards on file
Open Manage Cards to see every card the customer has with the payment provider. Under Actions, click Manage Cards; the cards are fetched from the payment provider and shown as a list with the last 3 or 4 digits, the expiry date, and any associated label.
JourneyCARE does not store card data for compliance reasons. Every time you open Manage Cards for any customer, the card details — last 3 or 4 digits, expiry date, and card provider (such as Visa or Mastercard) — are freshly fetched from the payment provider.
Both test and live mode cards appear in their respective lists.
Delete a card on file
Remove a card when the customer no longer uses it. Both test and live mode cards can be deleted from their respective lists.
Under Actions, click Manage Cards.
Identify the card you want to remove.
Click Delete next to the card.
Confirm the deletion in the pop-up prompt.
If the card is on an active subscription, the prompt calls this out before you confirm. Even if you delete the card anyway, the subscriptions associated with that card will have no payment method for auto deduction. The delete action is executed with the help of the payment provider.
If a subscription ends up without a working payment method, see "What happens when a subscription payment fails".
