Only admins can create, edit, and manage views.
Customize the Contact Detail Page
Admins can customize the Contact Detail Page by creating views that control how contact records appear: arrange panels, choose which modules show up, control field visibility, and assign specific views to users. Only admins can create and manage views.
What Contact Detail Page customization does
Customization lets you tailor the Contact Record to how your staff works: organize panels, choose which modules appear, control field visibility, and assign specific views to users. Each role-based view changes what a user sees when they open any contact record.
Only admins can create and manage views. Other users see the view they are assigned to.
Views and access management
You can create up to 5 views per account. The default view is preset and cannot be changed.
Views are assigned to users through Manage Users. You can review which users are mapped to each view and reassign them as needed.
Layout structure
Each view includes four main sections: the Contact Card, the left panel, the center panel, and the right panel.
Contact Card – the top section that displays key contact details.
Left Panel – used for custom fields, standard fields, and folders.
Center Panel – the primary workspace for major modules. The Conversations module is fixed and always appears here.
Right Panel – used for additional modules.
Panels can be resized so users can adjust the page, and the left panel can be expanded when users need more room.
Create a view
Create a view from Smart Lists settings, then assign it to the users who should see it.
Click the Contacts tab.
Go to Smart Lists.
Click the three dots, then click Settings.
Click the Customize Contact detail view tab.
Click the + Add View button.
Add a View Name.
Assign User(s) to the view. A user can be in only one view; if they are removed from a view, they return to the default view.
Click Create.
A user can belong to only one view at a time. Removing a user from their assigned view sends them back to the default view.
Once a view is created, click the three dots on the top right of the view to Rename View, Manage Users, Duplicate View, or Delete View.
Assign the view to the appropriate users in Manage Users. Click Manage all users to get a global view of user assignment.
Customize the Contact Card
The Contact Card is the top section of the record, and you control which details it shows and in what order.
You can add and arrange phone number, email address, contact address, Owner, Followers, Tags, and up to two custom fields. Only the primary phone number and primary email address can be displayed.
Owner and Followers can be managed separately: show only Owner, only Followers, both, or neither. Custom fields shown on the Contact Card are read-only; to edit custom field values, use the All fields tab.
You can reorder items within the Contact Card and hide fields that are not needed. You can also disable the Delete button to help prevent accidental contact deletion.
Tags do not have to stay on the Contact Card. You can place Tags in the left panel or center panel instead.
Customize the left panel
The left panel holds custom fields, standard fields, and folders. Learn how to reorder, organize, and hide custom fields from the field settings.
You can rearrange custom folders and fields, rename folders for clarity, and hide fields that are not relevant. Re-add removed fields using the Add button, and review how many fields are currently visible.
Use the Dynamic Tab
The Dynamic Tab gives one module a dedicated spot in the record for quick access. It can appear between All fields and Actions, and you can assign a supported module to this tab.
When a module is placed in the Dynamic Tab, it is removed from its previous tab location. Modules placed in a Dynamic Tab open expanded by default when the tab is opened.
This is useful for items such as Opportunities or Client Portal when quick access is needed. You can also rename and reorder tabs.
Customize the center panel
The center panel is the primary workspace for major modules. Drag and drop modules from the actions tab or the right panel into the center panel.
The Conversations module always remains fixed in the center and cannot be removed. Actions modules, such as Workflows, can be moved to the center panel or kept in the left panel, but they cannot be moved to the right panel. Right panel modules can stay in the right panel or move into the center panel.
Choose how modules are displayed: Tabs View shows modules as tabs, similar to Smart Lists, while Dropdown View groups modules under a dropdown menu to reduce visual clutter.
Tags can be placed in the center panel when they need more space or when you want to keep the Contact Card cleaner.
Customize the right panel
The right panel holds additional modules, and you can reorder them for quick access.
Choose a panel layout
Three-Panel View (Default) displays the left, center, and right panels. Two-Panel View merges right panel modules into the center panel for a more compact experience.
When you switch back to the three-panel layout, the previous arrangement is restored.
Review and save
Review the live preview to confirm the layout, then Save the view.
Best practices
Create separate views for Marketing, Sales, Support, and Admin.
Keep high-priority modules in the center panel.
Hide unused fields to reduce clutter.
Use the Dynamic Tab for the most frequently used action or module.
Disable the Delete button if protecting contact data is a priority.
