Use RSS feeds to send emails
Use the RSS Header and RSS Items elements with RSS Schedule to send automatic emails that pull content from an RSS feed when new items are published.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML feed that updates as new content is published. Common sources include blog posts and product updates. For how RSS Schedule compares with other send options, see Email delivery methods.
Add RSS elements to the email
In the email builder, add RSS Header for feed-level channel content and RSS Items for individual feed entries.
Go to Marketing → Emails → Email Campaigns.
Click Create Campaign and select a template.
In the builder, add the RSS Header and RSS Items elements where the feed content should appear.
Design the rest of the campaign, then open Send and Schedule when you are ready to configure the RSS schedule.
For builder basics, see Use the email editor.
RSS Header
The RSS Header element fills channel tags from your RSS feed. Use these custom values to insert the matching channel data:
{{rss_feed.title}}{{rss_feed.description}}{{rss_feed.url}}{{rss_feed.date}}
You can also use these four channel custom values in the subject line.
Basic vs Custom
When you add an RSS Header, choose Basic or Custom.
Basic inserts this non-editable text in the text editor:
<h1 class="h1">{{rss_feed.title}}</h1>
{{rss_feed.description}}<br />
<br />Custom inserts this editable text in the text editor:
Updates from {{rss_feed.url}}
<h1>{{rss_feed.title}}</h1>
<strong>{{rss_feed.description}}</strong><br />
<br />
<strong>In the {{rss_feed.date}} edition:</strong><br />RSS Items
The RSS Items element dynamically inserts item-level content from the feed, such as posts or articles. Add it below the header so each new entry appears in the email body.
Schedule an RSS email campaign
After the design is ready, set the feed URL, cadence, recipients, and sender details under RSS in Sending Options.
In Sending Options, select the RSS option.
Add your RSS feed URL.
Choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
Select the time the campaign should send.
Uncheck any days of the week when you do not want the RSS email to send.
Set recipients in To, the from address in From, your name in Name, the subject in Subject, and preview text in Preview.
Confirm the execution date, time, and time zone before you schedule. Sends use your account time zone.
Pause, reschedule, or edit a running RSS campaign
You can pause, reschedule, delete, or edit an RSS campaign before the next send.
Pause — Open Actions, then choose Pause.
Reschedule — Choose reschedule and set a new date and time. You can reschedule until one hour before the campaign sends.
Delete — Remove the campaign when you no longer need it.
Edit content — Update the email while the RSS schedule is running, before the next execution date. See Change an email that's already scheduled.
