Control layout visibility by device in the Email Builder
Use the Email Builder's layout visibility controls to show or hide an entire layout on Desktop or Mobile, then preview and test the result before sending.
Set visibility for a layout
Open an email template in the drag-and-drop builder, add a layout block, and use its device controls or the Visibility tab to choose where the layout appears.
Create or open an email template in the drag-and-drop builder.
Add a layout block to the email design.
Hover over the layout to show the Desktop and Mobile icons.
Click the Desktop or Mobile icon to toggle visibility for that device. A grayed-out icon indicates that the layout is hidden in that view.
Alternatively, select the layout block and open the Visibility tab in the left-hand panel.
Switch between Desktop and Mobile view with the preview icons in the builder toolbar.
Send a test email to check how the visibility settings behave in a real inbox.
If you hide a layout on both Desktop and Mobile, it is hidden from all views and is not sent. Keep at least one view active when the layout should be included.
Apply conditional visibility to a layout
Use conditional visibility to show or hide an entire layout based on contact data instead of configuring each element separately.
Select the layout or section in the Email Builder.
Open the Visibility tab.
Turn on conditional visibility.
Select the custom field to evaluate.
Choose a condition: Is, Is Not, Is Empty, or Is Present.
Enter a value when the selected condition requires one.
Save your changes.
Use layout visibility for responsive email designs
Choose the device-specific layout that matches the content you want readers to see on each view.
Use Desktop-only layouts for wide or multi-column designs.
Use Mobile-only layouts for single-column content or call-to-action buttons.
Preview the email and send a test email to confirm what is shown or hidden.
Pair layout visibility with element-level visibility when you need more precise control inside a layout.
Understand how layout and element visibility interact
Element visibility settings inside a layout do not affect the result when the layout itself is hidden; hidden layouts do not render their inner elements.
