Preview custom fields in the Email Builder
Use the Email Builder's Preview action to check how custom fields, such as {{first_name}}, resolve before you send an email.
Preview custom field values
Open the email in the Email Builder, then review the rendered custom field values from the editor's top menu bar.
Open the email in the Email Builder.
Locate the top menu bar in the editor.
Click Preview, next to Save, to open the preview.
Review the custom fields and confirm that they display the expected values.
For an email that uses a full address, review how
{{contact.full_address}}renders in Preview against the contact record.If a value looks wrong, close Preview, adjust the content or test data, and click Preview again.
Continue editing, or proceed to send or schedule the email when the preview is correct.
If the email includes merge fields or personalized information, you can preview it as a specific contact to confirm that the contact's information, membership details, and other personalized content appear correctly.
When custom values do not appear in a test email
Preview the email in the builder when you need to review custom field rendering before sending. A Test Email can leave custom values unfilled; for example, {contact.email} may appear blank.
Use the Email Builder's Preview action to review the custom field values instead of relying on a test email for that check.
