Collect additional information during event registration
Custom registration questions such as dietary restrictions, company, badge name, accommodations, or track preference are added in two places: the Checkout settings of a beta event, or the form behind a form-based registration. Use whichever flow your event runs on.
The Events feature is currently in beta and will replace the form-based process in Event Registrations with Forms.
Add questions to a beta event checkout
Beta events collect extra answers through the Checkout settings on the event's public pages. First name, last name, and email are locked as required fields, so every registration already captures those.
Go to Portal and Groups → Events and open your event.
Open the Public pages tab and select the Checkout sub-tab.
Set the checkout title attendees see, then add the custom fields you need, such as dietary restrictions, company, badge name, accommodations, or track preference.
Optionally require attendees to accept terms and conditions before they can complete registration.
The Checkout sub-tab controls the checkout title and the form fields attendees complete. For the full event setup, including tickets, settings, and publishing, see Create and manage ticketed and RSVP events.
Add questions to a form-based registration
Form-based registrations collect extra answers in the registration form itself. Build the questions in the form builder so attendees answer them when they register.
Go to Sites → Forms and open your registration form.
Open the Form Builder.
Use Quick Add to add the fields you need: text fields, dropdowns, checkboxes, date pickers, and other field types are available.
Reuse existing object fields such as Company when the question matches one, instead of creating a new field.
Form fields can update the matching contact record, so reusing an existing field keeps answers where your contact data already lives. For form-building basics, see Create a form.
Where form-based answers are stored
Answers from a form-based registration appear in three places: Sites → Forms → Submissions, the contact record's Activity section, and the contact's Contact Details page.
The form-submission record is the authoritative place to review the original answers. Contact fields contain the values written back to the contact, so a later change to a contact field does not change what the attendee originally submitted. A submission detail also includes page metadata such as URL, medium, source, referrer, and timezone, which shows you where the registration came from.
For more detail on where each answer lives, see Where form responses show up.
