[NEW-BETA] Automatically tag an event registrant or checked-in attendee
Use the Event Registration or Event Checked In workflow trigger to add a tag to a contact automatically when they register for or check in to an event. Both are triggers in Workflows, so you can add any actions you want after them, including tags.
Set up the event first with Create and manage ticketed and RSVP events. For check-in, see Check in attendees at an in-person event.
Choose the trigger
Pick the trigger by what you want to tag:
Event Registration — starts the workflow when a contact registers for an event.
Event Checked In — starts the workflow when an attendee checks in.
You can filter either trigger to a specific event, ticket type, registration status, or check-in details so the workflow runs only for the registrations you want.
Build the workflow
Open Automations > Workflows and open the workflow you want to use.
Add the trigger: choose Event Registration or Event Checked In.
Optionally set the trigger filters to narrow it to a specific event or ticket type.
Click the + button in a workflow line to add an action.
Select Add Contact Tag from Contact Actions.
Choose the tag to apply.
Add any other actions you want, then Publish the workflow.
A workflow runs only after you publish it; while it is a Draft it never triggers. Once published, the tag is applied automatically each time the event registration or check-in happens. See Working with Contact Tags for how tags are used for filtering, reporting, Smart Lists, and additional automations.
