Track course progress with analytics
Course progress analytics is a centralized dashboard where creators and administrators can see learner engagement, completion rates, and member-level progress across every course in the location. Open it from Portal and Groups > Courses > Analytics > Course progress. It works with all existing courses and begins tracking current and future courses without additional configuration.
Open the analytics dashboard
Go to Portal and Groups > Courses > Analytics.
Click Course progress.
Enable New Course Progress Analytics in Settings > Labs before the dashboard is available. Once enabled, existing course data appears, and all current and future courses are tracked automatically.
Filter the dashboard
Filter by Course or Enrollment date. The filters apply to the whole dashboard — the key metrics, the learner journey funnel, and the member progress table — and every component updates instantly when a filter changes.
Key performance metrics
Three metrics summarize progress, each with a comparison to the previous equivalent time period. Filtering for the last 30 days, for example, compares results with the previous 30-day period.
Overall Completion Rate: the percentage of enrolled learners who completed the course.
Average Course Progress: the mean progress percentage across enrolled learners.
Average Time to Complete: the average time from enrollment to completion for learners who finished the course.
User conversion funnel
The funnel shows where learners drop off between enrollment and completion.
New Users: total learners enrolled in the course.
Started Learning: enrolled learners who began the course content.
Completed a Course: learners who finished all course requirements.
Member progress table
The member progress table is sortable, filterable, and searchable, with one row per learner.
Member name: the learner's full name.
Courses completed: the total number of courses the learner has finished.
Enrollment date: when the learner enrolled in the course.
Course start date: when the learner first accessed the course content.
Last accessed date: the learner's most recent interaction with the course.
Session count: the total number of sessions logged by the learner.
Export the data
The CSV export contains exactly what you are currently viewing on the dashboard.
Smaller exports download immediately in the browser.
Exports with 500 or more rows are processed on the server and delivered by email.
The email contains a secure download link that stays valid for 24 hours after the email is sent.
Performance
The dashboard loads about 43% faster than previous analytics implementations and downloads nearly 90% less data. Filters and table interactions update instantly without a full page reload, and speed stays consistent regardless of location size or course count.
