Show business and client tax IDs on invoices
Show your organization's Tax ID and each client's Tax ID on invoices by storing them in a custom value and a custom field, then mapping both into your invoice layout.
Create the client Tax ID custom field
Store each client's tax ID in a single-line custom field on the contact record so you can enter a different ID per client and pull it onto their invoices.
Open Settings in the left pane.
Under Other Settings, select Custom Fields.
Click +Add Field.
Under Text Input, select Single Line and click Next.
Enter the field Name, such as Tax ID.
Select Contact in both the Object and Group dropdowns, then click Save.
Create the business Tax ID custom value
Store your organization's fixed tax ID as a custom value so it can be placed in the business details of every invoice.
Return to Settings.
Under Other Settings, select Custom Values.
Click +Custom Value.
Enter a Name, such as Business Tax ID, and the Value — your organization's tax ID.
Click Create.
Map the IDs into the invoice layout
Add the business Tax ID custom value under the business information and the client Tax ID custom field under the contact information so both appear on every invoice.
Open Payments and select Settings under Invoices & Estimates.
Under Title, Terms and Layout, scroll to Invoice Layout and click Customize Layout.
In the Layout tab, under Business Information, click +Add Custom Value and select Business Tax ID from the dropdown.
Under Contact Information, click +Add Custom Field and select Tax ID from the dropdown.
Review the preview to confirm both IDs are visible, then click Save changes.
For other ways to customize the invoice layout, see Customize invoice layouts.
Enter a client's Tax ID
Add each client's tax ID to their contact record so it appears on that client's invoices.
Open Contacts and select the Additional info tab.
Click TAX ID and enter the contact's tax ID.
Save the contact.
Create the invoice and confirm the IDs
Create the invoice for the client and check that both IDs appear on it.
From the contact's Payments tab, open Actions and select Create Invoice — or go to Payments and select Create Invoice.
The invoice displays the client's Tax ID from their contact record under the contact details, and the Business Tax ID custom value under the business details.
