The focus is on-screen readability. Exports or printing may simplify content, so review exports to confirm the appearance you need.
Rich text options for notes and task descriptions
Notes and task descriptions support lightweight rich text formatting — bold, italics, underline, strikethrough, lists, and hyperlinks — that renders consistently across the platform.
Formatting toolbar
The formatting toolbar above the Note Description field provides every supported control.
Control | Use it to |
|---|---|
Bold, italics, underline, strikethrough | Emphasize text, including marking text as removed or outdated |
Bulleted list | Present ideas, talking points, or general notes |
Numbered list | Present steps, follow-ups, or ordered tasks |
Hyperlink (insert/edit) | Turn selected text into a clickable link to a URL |
Undo/redo | Reverse or reapply the last change |
Pasting preserves basic formatting only — emphasis, lists, and links — and omits complex layout and media.
Lists and structure
Use bulleted lists for ideas, talking points, and general notes. Use numbered lists for steps, follow-ups, or ordered tasks where the sequence matters.
Add a hyperlink
Turn any text in a note or task description into a clickable link:
Select the text you want to hyperlink.
Click the Link icon in the toolbar.
Paste the URL and confirm.
Save the note or task.
The link renders as clickable text wherever the note or task appears. Hyperlinks are provided for quick navigation; this feature does not introduce link tracking.
Where formatting appears
Rich text renders consistently wherever notes and tasks appear:
Contacts
Opportunities
Companies
Conversations
Calendars
Apply formatting
Format any note or task, new or existing, from the editor where you write it — for example, from Contacts by opening a contact.
Open a note or task, or create a new one. See Using Notes and Tasks for how notes and tasks work on contact records.
Click in the Note Description field.
Use the toolbar to apply formatting, insert links, or create lists.
Click Save to apply your changes.
What is not supported
This release focuses on lightweight formatting, so the following are not supported:
Images, tables, headings, text colors, text alignment, code blocks, and checkbox-style task lists.
Pasting complex layout or media — only emphasis, lists, and links carry over from pasted content.
Guaranteed export or print appearance — exports or printing may simplify content, so review exports to confirm the appearance you need.
Public API changes — the release does not add or modify public API endpoints.
Toolbar editing on mobile in every view — if the toolbar is not visible on mobile, edit in the desktop or web app while viewing remains intact.
Internal comments in Conversations are distinct from Notes and may have different capabilities.
