It must be manually enabled in Labs for each organization before it becomes accessible.
Manage tasks on contacts and opportunities
You manage tasks from both Contacts and Opportunities through the same interface: the task panel looks and functions the same whether you open it from a contact record or an opportunity record. Turn unified task management on in Labs first, then use the panel to add, filter, sort, edit, and delete tasks from either record type.
Enable unified task management
Unified task management must be manually enabled in Labs for each organization before it becomes accessible.
In Labs, enable the unified task management toggle. Disabling the toggle returns to the earlier task system. Existing tasks remain fully available in the unified interface, with no data loss.
The change applies only to the user interface and task management experience. Automations and workflows are not affected.
Open tasks on a contact record
Open a contact's profile, then click the Tasks icon at the top right to reach the task panel for that contact.
In the left-hand menu, select the Contacts section.
Select the Smart Lists tab.
Click any contact to open their full profile.
Click the Tasks icon at the top right of the contact view.
For more on tasks on contact records, see Using Notes and Tasks.
Open tasks on an opportunity record
Click into any opportunity record to open the same task panel for tasks tied to that deal or pipeline stage.
If you don't have an opportunity yet, Create an Opportunity walks through adding one.
Filter and sort
Use the filter and sort icons above the task list to narrow and order the tasks you see.
The filter icon narrows the task list by assignee or task status.
The sort icon orders tasks by due date or creation date, toggling between ascending and descending.
Add a task
Click + Add Task to open the full task creation form.
Enter a Title. This field is required.
Click Add description to include context, instructions, or important notes.
Set the due date and time: use the calendar and time picker to select when the task should be completed, and the time dropdown to choose the exact hour and minute.
Optional — set up recurrence: toggle on Recurring tasks, use the Repeats every field to set the interval (for example, every X days, weeks, or months), and choose Ends on: Never, On a specific date, or After a set number of repetitions. You can also enable creating a new task even if the previous task is overdue, so recurrence continues on schedule regardless of completion status. See Create recurring tasks for the full recurrence options.
Use the Assign to dropdown to designate a team member from the account.
Click Save to finalize the task, or Save and Add Another to continue creating additional tasks.
Edit or delete a task
Use the three-dot menu next to any task to edit or delete it.
Click the three-dot menu next to the task, then choose Edit to modify the task details or Delete to remove the task from the record.
