Gift Card Orders lists every issued card, sold or sent, with its status, balance, and contact details. The Payments > Orders page shows only paid orders.
Getting started with Gift Cards
Gift cards are customizable prepaid-credit products you can sell or give away, and members redeem them at checkout in JourneyCARE. Everything starts on the Gift Cards dashboard in the Payments section, where you create a gift card product and then sell, send, track, and redeem the cards it issues.
Key benefits
Gift cards give you flexible ways to sell prepaid credit plus a clear view of every card you issue.
Flexible selling options. Sell through a dedicated checkout link, embed code, QR code, or by adding the product to existing checkouts such as Funnels, Forms, Stores, Websites, Payment Links, Invoices, and Calendars.
Scheduled delivery. Choose when a purchased or sent card is delivered to its recipient.
Operational visibility. Every issued card, sold or sent, appears under Gift Card Orders with its status, balance, and contact details.
Brand consistency. Design cards with your brand's gradient colors or upload custom artwork.
Built-in gifting. Customers can buy a card for themselves or someone else.
Frictionless redemption. Customers enter the code at checkout and the balance applies automatically.
Before you start
You need access to the Payments section, at least one gift card product, and checkouts where customers can redeem the cards. Artwork, terms and conditions, and a redemption-instructions URL are optional extras you add while creating the product.
Create a gift card product
Create a gift card product before you can sell or send anything; the Orders and Sell/Send options on the dashboard appear only after the first product exists.
Open the Payments tab in the left menu, then click Gift Cards in the top ribbon to open the Gift Cards dashboard.
Click + Create Gift Card. For a first-time user, this is the only option on the dashboard.
Add the product details: name, description, terms and conditions, expiry date, and a URL to redemption instructions. The expiry date applies to every gift card order for this product.
Choose the card design: Create a Gradient (brand colors with gradient style and direction) or Upload Custom Artwork (a high-resolution image such as PNG or JPG).
Add one or more denominations (for example, $25, $50, and $100) and set the quantity. Optionally enable automatic taxes and assign a category for filtering and reporting.
Review the summary and preview, then click Create Gift Card.
Inventory applies per denomination: the quantity you set applies individually to each denomination, so quantity 100 with two denominations creates 200 cards in total.
Manage gift card products
Return to Payments > Gift Cards to edit, archive, deactivate, or activate any product.
Edit. Change denominations, quantity, terms, expiry, category, or tax behavior. Edits apply to future issuances only; existing cards keep their original values.
Delete or archive. Remove products you no longer use.
Deactivate. Sell and Send stop working, and the dedicated checkout link or Store stops immediately. On other checkouts where you added the gift card as a product, it keeps selling until you remove it manually.
Activate. Re-enables selling and sending; re-add the product to any checkout you removed it from.
Where gift cards are sold, sent, tracked, and redeemed
Each part of the gift card lifecycle has its own walkthrough: How to sell gift cards, How to send gift cards, Gift card performance metrics, and How to redeem gift cards for offline or off-session payments.
Sell. Offer the product through a dedicated checkout link, embed code, QR code, or by adding it to existing checkouts such as Funnels, Forms, Stores, Websites, Payment Links, Invoices, and Calendars. See How to sell gift cards.
Send. Issue a card directly to a contact by email, SMS, PDF, or QR code with no payment involved. Sending works only in Live Mode and creates a one-time prepaid credit. See How to send gift cards.
Track. Every issued card, sold or sent, appears under Payments > Gift Cards > Gift Card Orders; the generic Payments > Orders page shows only paid orders. See Gift card performance metrics.
Redeem. Apply a card's balance at a supported checkout, or redeem a card manually for offline and off-session payments. See How to redeem gift cards for offline or off-session payments.
Gift Card Orders lists the status, balance, and contact details for every card, and each card opens a details page showing the purchaser and recipient, denomination, expiry (always the product's expiry date), remaining balance, status (Scheduled, Active, or Inactive), the gift card number (hidden until the details page opens), delivery method and schedule, and the transaction reference for paid cards.
The dashboard also shows performance metrics: total gift cards issued (sold plus sent), total value issued for the period, average gift card order value, number of unique customers, and a Top 5 chart of top denominations.
How customers redeem a gift card
At any supported checkout — Forms, Funnels, Payment Links, Invoices, Store, Calendars, or Services V2 — the customer enters the gift card code and the balance applies automatically.
The customer enters the gift card code at checkout.
Checkout shows the amount used and the remaining balance. When extra payment is required, it also shows the amount left to pay.
If the balance covers the full order total for one-time products, no extra payment is needed. If the balance is less than the order total, or the order includes subscriptions, checkout captures an additional payment method for the remainder.
Transaction details include a separate Gift Card Balance Used line item.
Redemption is fully supported with Stripe, NMI, Authorize, and Square. For PayPal, Adyen, and custom payment providers, a gift card can be redeemed only when the balance fully covers the order or invoice total and the order contains no recurring or subscription product.
Gift card redemption is not available on Memberships, Donation Forms, or Rentals, and Services V1 will not support it. Live-mode gift cards redeem on live checkouts and test-mode cards on test checkouts; a live card cannot be used on a test checkout, and vice versa.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the most common questions about gift card orders, expiry, inventory, and redemption.
What's the difference between Gift Card Orders and the regular Orders page?
Can I set a different expiry date per order?
Not yet. Expiry is set at the product level and applies to every order for that product.
How does inventory work with multiple denominations?
The quantity you set applies individually to each denomination, so a quantity of 100 with two denominations creates 200 cards in total.
Where can customers redeem a gift card?
There's no restriction yet on where a card can be redeemed, except that gift cards cannot be used to buy gift cards.
Can I check a card's balance without starting a checkout?
Not yet. The remaining balance is shown when the customer enters the code during checkout.
Can a gift card be used to buy a gift card?
No. Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards.
Can I turn off the redemption option?
No. The redemption option appears at checkout once a gift card order is placed, and there is no way to disable it yet.
