Filter media by file type
Filter Media Storage by file type with the File Type dropdown in the top toolbar, beside Sort. The filter defaults to All and works the same across My Media, Google Drive, and External Libraries.
Filter by file type
Use the filter when you want to see only one kind of file, such as every video or every PDF in your library.
Go to Media Storage.
In the top toolbar, locate File Type beside Sort.
Click File Type.
Select a category.
Browse the library or use Search — only files of the selected type remain visible.
To show all files again, set File Type back to All.
File type categories
Each category in the File Type dropdown covers the file extensions below.
Photos — JPG, PNG, SVG, GIF
Videos — MP4, MOV, WEBM, AVI
Audio — MP3, WAV, OGG
Docs — DOCX, TXT, CSV, XLSX, PPTX
PDFs — PDF files
Other — ZIP, RAW, and miscellaneous formats
Where the filter works
The File Type filter works across My Media, Google Drive, and External Libraries (connected libraries), so the same categories apply to every source you browse in Media Storage. For details on bringing Google Drive files into Media Storage, see Connect Google Drive to Media Storage.
The control is disabled for the image-only sources Unsplash and Pixabay, because every file there is a photo.
Filter behavior notes
Filtering changes what is displayed only — it does not change your stored files, storage usage, or upload limits. See Media Library file upload limits for the storage limits that apply.
Switching sources clears the File Type selection.
Search terms persist when you switch between My Media, Google Drive, and External Libraries.
The filter is a per-user preference that resets each session and does not sync to other team members.
Multi-select works only within the current view — to select files across types, switch back to All first.
The filter is available on desktop and web; it is not yet available on mobile.
