Set expiry dates for certificates
You can set an expiry date for certificates at the template level or at the issued certificates level. An expiry set on an issued certificate overrides the template-level expiry.
Set an expiry on the template
On the Templates tab, open the three-dot menu on the template row and choose Set Expiry. In the Expiration Period modal, choose how long after issue certificates expire:
Never.
A fixed date.
A relative duration from the date of issue: 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months.
Set an expiry on an issued certificate
On the Issued Certificates tab, open the three-dot menu on the certificate row and choose Set Expiry. In the Set Expiry Date modal, choose Never, a fixed date, or a relative duration from the date of issue.
When you select a date, the modal shows the exact date and time the certificate will expire before you confirm with Set Expiry Date. An expiry set here overrides the template-level expiry.
Customize reminder emails
On the Issued Certificates tab, open the three-dot menu on a certificate row and choose Set Expiry, then set the reminder offset in the Expiration Reminder field so recipients are notified before their certificate expires. Expiration calculation and reminder scheduling are timezone-aware.
What happens when a certificate expires
When a certificate expires, the certificate preview is no longer available for that user. The certificate is marked as expired for the recipient and other viewers, and the recipient receives an email notification that the certificate is expiring.
