Create a one-time login link
Create a magic link as an administrator to get someone into their account when they are having login difficulty, or to log in as a member for troubleshooting.
Generate a magic link
Generate the link from the portal dashboard, then send it to the person who needs access.
In the left navigation, go to Portal & Groups. You land on the portal dashboard.
In the action section, under Generate Magic Link, click Generate.
In the box that opens, search for the person who needs the magic link.
Select the person, then click Generate.
The link is time sensitive. Send it to the person who needs login assistance.
If you use the link yourself for troubleshooting, open it in an incognito or private window so the system does not recognize you as the administrator.
If the person does not appear in search
Search only returns people who already have access to something in the portal.
If you do not find the person, open their contact record and confirm they have been granted access to something in the portal, then generate the magic link again. Learn how to view and manage portal access from the Contact Record.
If the magic link expires
When someone opens an expired magic link, the portal automatically redirects them to the One Time Password (OTP) verification screen instead of showing an error. A One Time Password (OTP) is sent to their email address, which is masked on the screen, and they enter the code to finish logging in. No setup is required for this fallback, and the person does not need to request or regenerate a new magic link.
