Only emails initiated from JourneyCARE sync, and auto-BCC does not sync the contact.
Connect Outlook for two-way email sync
Connect your Outlook email account from Settings > My Profile > Email (2-way sync) so email syncs in both directions between JourneyCARE and your Outlook inbox. Gmail connections are covered in Connect Gmail for two-way email sync.
What two-way email sync does
Two-way email sync synchronizes email between JourneyCARE and an email client in both directions: sent, received, or updated messages are synchronized between the two. Connect Outlook when you send one-to-one email from JourneyCARE and want it to stay in sync with your Outlook inbox.
Connect Outlook
The Outlook 2-way Sync feature must be enabled in Labs before setup; the sync does not work without it.
In Settings, open the My Profile tab.
Scroll to Email (2-way sync).
Select Outlook as the email provider.
Click Connect.
Complete authorization by entering your Outlook email credentials and approving the requested permissions.
Return to Settings > My Profile > Email (2-way sync) to see the email address in the connection status.
Troubleshooting for permission errors is covered in Email failure: insufficient permission for 2-way sync.
Sync behavior
When the connection is active, email syncs between JourneyCARE and your Outlook inbox in both directions.
Email initiated from JourneyCARE — The thread and subsequent messages sync between JourneyCARE and Outlook.
Email from existing contacts — When an existing contact sends a new email to the connected Outlook inbox, it syncs into JourneyCARE with subsequent thread messages.
Email to people who are not yet contacts — To sync a new email sent from Outlook to someone who is not yet a contact, add the JourneyCARE BCC address in the email’s Cc or Bcc field. This creates a new contact and synchronizes the email.
Emails from JourneyCARE users — Emails from contacts who are also JourneyCARE users are not synced, because they may contain confidential information.
Sender domain — For individual email, the connected Outlook email address is the sender domain. For bulk email, the connected address is used as the sender domain only when you enter it in the From field; bulk email with a different address uses the sub-account-level provider as the sender domain. Workflow and automation emails continue to come from sub-account-level providers and are not synchronized with the inbox.
Limits
Attachments up to 3 MB sync between JourneyCARE and Outlook; messages with larger attachments do not sync. Supported file types are JPG, JPEG, PNG, MP4, MPEG, ZIP, RAR, PDF, DOC, DOCX, and TXT.
Outlook two-way sync FAQs
What happens if Outlook 2-way Sync is disabled in Labs?
Why don’t emails from contacts who are also JourneyCARE users sync?
These emails are not synced because they may contain confidential information.
What happens when an attachment is larger than 3 MB?
The message does not sync. Attachments up to 3 MB work across this sync.
What does Update Email do?
Update Email changes the connected email address without disconnecting the previous connection. New outbound JourneyCARE emails use the newly added address, and upcoming messages in the previous address’s existing threads stop syncing between JourneyCARE and the personal email.
What does Disconnect Email do?
Disconnect Email disconnects the connection and stops synchronization between JourneyCARE and Outlook.
