Create and send a contract
Use Contracts to create signable agreements—such as speaker agreements, exhibitor contracts, sponsorship commitments, and other formal program documents—with structured content, multiple pages, payment schedules, and electronic signatures. Signers complete everything online and automatically receive a copy.
Open the Contracts area
Create a new contract from Payments.
In the left navigation, go to Payments.
In the top navigation of the Payments area, select Contracts.
Click New at the top right to create a new contract document.
Add elements to the contract canvas
Build the agreement on a blank canvas by adding and configuring elements.
Click the plus (+) icon at the top left to view available elements.
Drag elements onto the canvas—for example text blocks, images, product lists, or signatures.
Click an element to open its properties panel on the right and configure its settings. For an image element, you can choose the image file, adjust alignment, set its size, and define spacing around it.
To add another page, click the plus (+) sign at the bottom of a page.
Configure payment details with the Product List
Include fees or line items on the agreement, then choose how payments are handled after signing.
Drag the Product List element onto the canvas.
Click Add an item for each product, fee, or line item that should appear on the agreement.
Click the Payment settings icon and choose the options you need:
Direct payment — The signer goes to the payment page immediately after signing.
Enable sending invoice — The signer automatically receives an invoice by email after signing.
Enable auto-payment — When multiple payments are involved, subsequent payments are billed to the same credit card used for the first payment.
Add signature fields and recipients
Place signature fields on the canvas and assign who should sign.
Drag the Signature element onto the canvas wherever a signature is required. Add multiple signature fields when more than one person needs to sign.
In the right-hand panel for each signature field, specify which signer should appear in that spot. Define multiple signers as needed.
To assign specific signers in advance, click the Recipients icon at the top left and add the people who should receive and sign the contract.
If you plan to reuse the contract as a template for many different signers, leave specific signers unspecified and assign them later when sending.
Save, convert to a template, and send or publish
When the contract is ready, save it, send it to signers, or turn it into a reusable template.
Click the three dots near Save and Send to convert the contract to a template.
Optionally add an expiration date so the contract must be signed by a specific deadline.
Download a PDF to preview how the contract will look to signers.
Click Send to email the contract to the assigned signers.
If the contract content will be identical for everyone who signs it, convert it to a template first. Converting to a template reveals a Publish option. Publishing generates a link you can share so anyone who needs to sign can open and complete the agreement from that link.
Customize contract email notifications
Configure contract email notifications in Settings before you send your first contracts.
Customize those emails to match your organization’s branding, tone, and preferred messaging instead of using the default JourneyCARE email templates.
Multi-role signing in templates
A template can define multiple signer roles — such as buyer, seller, witness, or a custom role — up to 6 roles per template. Fillable elements such as signature or date fields can be assigned to an individual role.
When a template is sent through a Workflow's Send Document action, the configured roles populate automatically, and workflow-level values can override a role's name, email, or phone number without changing the template. For workflow sends, at least one fillable element must be assigned to Contact; missing role email addresses prompt for completion before sending, and duplicate email addresses across roles trigger an alert. Multi-role signing is currently available on the web.
